Deposit and damage
How much you leave, when you get it back, and exactly what happens if something breaks.
The deposit is there so we can hand expensive gear to someone we met ten minutes ago. It isn't a fee, and we don't want to keep it.
How the deposit works
- Every item and every Go Bag shows its deposit on the site, next to the price. You see it before you send anything.
- You pay it at handover, together with the rental.
- We also ask for a photo of your passport or ID. We never hold the passport itself.
- You get the deposit back the same day the gear comes back, the same way you paid it.
What we check at return
It takes a few minutes, and you're welcome to watch. We power everything on, look at the lens and the screen, check the ports, doors and seals, and count the accessories against the list you were given at handover.
Normal wear is on us
Gear that gets used gets marked. We don't charge for light scuffs on a body or a case, worn adhesive pads, tired mount screws, a dusty sensor, or batteries that have aged. If it still works and looks like a camera that's been on holiday, that's normal.
What counts as damage
- Cracked or deeply scratched lenses, screens or filters.
- Water inside a camera, a drone or a microphone.
- Sand or grit in a gimbal, a lens mount or a port.
- Bent drone arms or a burnt-out motor. Propellers are consumables and we don't charge for those.
- Anything missing: batteries, cables, mounts, mic transmitters, the card reader.
What it costs
You pay what it costs to put right, and no more.
- If it can be repaired, you pay the repair bill from the brand's service centre or an authorised repairer in Indonesia. We send you the quote or the receipt.
- If it can't be repaired, or it's lost or stolen, you pay the current price of the same model from an Indonesian retailer. We send you the listing.
- Missing small parts are charged at what it costs us to buy the same part again.
Your deposit is used first. If the cost is lower than the deposit, the rest comes back to you. If it's higher, you pay the difference.
When a repair needs a service centre quote, we only hold the part of the deposit the repair could reach, and return the rest that day. We send you the quote within 7 days.
Water
Each action camera has a depth it can go to without a case, and a deeper limit with its dive case. Ask us if you're not sure which you need. Water damage inside those limits with the doors properly closed is rare. Water damage from an open door, a hair across the seal, or a dive past the rating is damage. Check the seal every time and rinse in fresh water after the sea.
Drones
A crash, a flyaway, a drone in the sea or one confiscated for flying where it shouldn't is treated like any other damage or loss. Fly inside the rules, away from water and trees until you know the drone, and bring it home with battery to spare.
Loss and theft
Tell us straight away. If it's stolen, a police report will help your travel insurance claim. You cover the replacement cost as above.
Travel insurance
We don't sell insurance. Many travel policies cover rented equipment, and many don't. Check yours before you fly, and ask your insurer what they need from us if you ever claim. We'll give you the paperwork.

Quick answers
When do I get my deposit back?
The same day the gear comes back, the same way you paid it, after a quick check you're welcome to watch.
Do you keep my passport?
No. We ask for a photo of your passport or ID and a refundable deposit. The passport stays with you.
What if I scratch something?
Light scuffs and marks from normal use aren't charged. Cracks, water inside, sand in a gimbal and missing parts are.
What do I pay if something breaks?
The repair cost from a service centre, or the price of the same model in Indonesia if it can't be repaired. We show you the quote or receipt, and your deposit is used first.
